Remote Learner is excited to announce the addition of the Plugin Database to Learning Spaces. The Plugin Database details hundreds of plugins that the Remote Learner team has vetted for our clients. This information will help anyone with a Learning Spaces account to better understand the plugins available to them as well as how to use them most effectively. One of the best features of your LMS is the ability to add new functionality through the installation of plugins. Historically, the Add-On Manager has been our way of presenting plugin options to our clients. The Add-On Manager is a one-stop, self-service tool for installing, updating, repairing, and uninstalling plugins from your Remote Learner site. The hundreds of Moodle® and Totara® plugins available through Add-On Manager have been evaluated and approved by Remote Learner, so you know they are safe to use.
The Add-On Manager is only available to site administrators. By adding the Plugin Database to Learning Spaces, we’re giving anyone with a Learning Spaces account the opportunity to learn about available plugins so that they can better advocate for the tools they need to do their jobs to the best of their abilities. Tips & Tricks
The Remote Learner team has gathered tips and tricks they’ve discovered when using these plugins ourselves. This can include information about plugin settings, how to use it with other plugins for additional benefits, and strategies for using specific plugin features.
Some plugins have dependency requirements for installation and these dependencies must be installed for the plugin to function. In this section, clients can see all the required plugins as well as additional plugins that can be installed for even more options.
Do you want to know if there are plugins with similar functionality to that you can compare a plugin to? The Alternative Plugins section will list other approved plugins that offer similar features.
We want our clients to have all the information necessary to make the best decisions about what plugins are added to their site. In the Warnings and Cautions section, you can find information such as limitations, accessibility issues, and security concerns. For example, most plugins are free to install but may require a subscription in order to function as intended. In this section, we’ve identified whether a plugin requires payment or another form of commitment for full access.
We’re excited to get your feedback on the Plugin Database and welcome your ideas for what we could add to it. This initial release is only the beginning – the Plugin Database will be growing and evolving over time. Be sure to check back often!
