Remote Learner’s delivery of Moodle 3.2 offers a number of new features that improve accessibility and user experience, as well as making life easier for instructors and administrators. Let’s take a high-level look at some of these new elements!
First, your Moodle LMS now fully supports mobile logins, with all administrative and instructor functions available from any device.
Speaking of mobility, the new embedded media player offers high quality video playback and offers a consistent look and functionality across all platforms. Users can easily embed videos into assignments and forums using the Atto text editor. The video player has also received significant accessibility upgrades with the addition of captions and subtitles.
This commitment to accessible information extends to individual activity reporting, which has been enhanced with new interactions that allow visually impaired users to access reporting data. In addition, these course participant reports have received a graphics upgrade, with data now presented in sleek tables. Information is presented clearly to all users. When coupled with Remote Learner’s Altitude theme, which already comprehensively meets WCAG 2.0 and 508 accessibility guidelines, your LMS presents no barriers to learning.
It’s now easier than ever to duplicate Lesson pages, and the Quiz activity has received a number of updates that make it run faster while adding functionality. It also supports offline Quiz completion, as learners can complete Quiz activities even without a net connection.
Site administrators will love the addition of User Tours. These custom tours offer a walk through areas of your site to highlight new features or functions. They can be created to keep teachers and students aware of new site navigation, or welcome new users and assist them with enrolment.
Another enhancement is the addition of an import and export feature to the existing Competency Frameworks. Administrators can now quickly import and export new competency frameworks and apply them to roles within your organization.
The introduction of LTI2 compatibility means greater content integration across learning platforms. Finally, Moodle has also added Content Item, a tool that allows administrative users to configure and customize LTI tools.
That’s just high level overview of the new features and tools available in Moodle 3.2. Over the coming weeks, we’ll highlight some of our favorite key features and show you how to apply them to your own LMS practices.
