At Remote Learner, our greatest strength is our staff. We have a diverse group of employees around the United States and Canada, individuals with unique backgrounds and skills needed to meet the challenges faced by our clients. In this blog, we regularly profile the staff members that make the Remote Learner team strong. This week we talked to Sandy Shirgaokar, an Account Mananger with Remote Learner’s Development & Design team.
Name: Sandy Shirgaokar
Position: Account Manager
Home: Southern California
Brief: Originally from the East Coast, Sandy currently lives in Costa Mesa, California. Most of my career has been in sales, marketing, and event management in the hospitality industry which says everything about Sandy… she loves to take care of people!
Q: Tell us a little about yourself, Sandy.
A: I grew up in Maryland. My parents immigrated to the US from India, making me a first-generation American. My parents are my heroes. After moving to Southern California over 30 years ago, I’ve had many great experiences, fun opportunities, and have met some amazing people. I consider myself a very fortunate person. Oh yeah, I’m not a morning person, so don’t be surprised if I respond to your email during the wee hours.
Q: How did your career path bring you to Remote Learner?
A: I started with Remote Learner in 2016 as their Event and Conference consultant. While working with RL, I was in awe of the culture Ron Olsen, CEO, and the Executive Team had created. When I was approached about becoming an Account Manager, which would allow me to take care of their clients like I had taken care of them, I emphatically said yes!
Q: What’s a day at Remote Learner look like for you?
A: Taking care of the client! From reviewing their cases, responding to emails, increasing my technical knowledge, tracking down answers, or just listening… it’s always about the client and what I can do to help them. My goal is to be seen as their partner and to help them achieve the results they are looking for.
Q: Are there any recommendations or suggestions you always find yourself making to your clients?
A: One thing I’ve realized is that I’m always reminding our hosting clients about a phenomenal resource that’s available to them: Learning Spaces. It’s such an awesome training tool, offering webinars, documentation, solution samples, and more for their LMS. We get caught up in our day to day so sometimes it’s easy to forget just how informative and easily available it is.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
A: I love being Aunty Sandy to my friend’s children, affectionately known as “my littles”. Traveling is a great passion of mine! Pre-COVID, I enjoyed a trip or two abroad each year. Not all is lost, though: because of COVID I have a renewed love of road trips. I also enjoy spending time with friends, sharing a delicious bottle of wine (or two), or a curated craft cocktail, and amazing food.
